153: 20 New Year Content Ideas [BONUS From the Private Podcast]
2023 is just about here/
And with a new year means lots more marketing content. That’s why I’m so excited about today’s episode — a list of 20 prompts for creating awesome marketing content to kick off the year.
In today's episode, we're bringing back our favorite holiday season tradition... Double episodes for all of December! This year, Lauren decided to do something very special. She's going to share four episodes from the private podcast that only members of the Making Good Happen subscription service have access to! We'll be sprinkling these episodes like holiday magic throughout the month, so keep an eye out wherever you get your podcasts for these special episode drops.
Today, we're sharing the private podcast episode from December 19th: 20 New Year's Content Ideas
Here they are!
"If you like my business, you'd also like...." Put together a round up of other small businesses that your ideal customer would also like following and encourage them to do so.
Show us something that's in progress... and then update us later with the final product.
Share a screenshot of a message from someone (with their permission). Maybe it was an email response. Maybe a social media comment or reply. Something that shows how someone else is using and loving your product.
Tell a boring story from your life. What's something that happened recently in your life that you could apply to business? Or that inspired something in your business? People like to hear the every day moments!
What are your favorite tools? Share them in a Reel/TikTok/email/whatever. Could be the materials you use to make your products or the tools you use every day in your business.
Share an "unpopular opinion" or strong statement in the form of a quote over a video (you can get b-roll style video on Canva, or use something you recorded yourself from your business).
Make a meme about something that your ideal customer would relate to (preferably about a topic that relates to what you sell). Basically, you want to first think of a common feeling or experience your ideal customer will relate to, then pick a meme that makes it funny. Canva has a meme generator to make it beyond easy - just google “Canva meme generator” and it’ll come up.
Intro post: This is something you probably want to do every couple of months. In this case, how about you share a Reel / TikTok / carousel that is a series of photos or clips of you showing different parts of your life.
Don't Make These 5 ____ Mistakes (where ____ is your category. for example, "don't make these 5 design mistakes" or "5 mistakes that will ruin your jewelry")
Reel/TikTok idea: A day in the life. Give us little snippets from your day, from morning to night. Extra credit for a voiceover where you share what exactly you're doing.
If you have a specific enough ideal customer that you know what their intention for the new year might be, give them some mantras or affirmations around that. For example, if you sell to people who are really committed to shopping small, maybe you could create 5 affirmations for those committed to shopping small in 2023.
What's something that you've been wanting to do for years and are finally doing this year? PUT A STAKE IN THE GROUND and share it!
Did you have any big (or small) failures that you're willing to share from 2022? This is so validating and helpful to hear about.
Take us behind the scenes of kicking off a new year in your business. What are you spending your time on? Is it different from the rest of the year? Share <3.
Did you do a vision board or a mood board for the year? Share a sneak peek -- any thing you're comfortable sharing.
[Engagement] Ask your audience this question: What's something you're really excited about right now? Share their answers!
Fill in the blank: "In 2023, I'm done with _______________." (Or: "In 2023, I'm letting go of ____________.) Elaborate :).
If I may be so bold to say.... 2023 is for growing your email list! Share a new (or re-announce!) freebie/opt-in/lead magnet and give folks a good reason to join.
What are you cooking up in your business for 2023? Give folks a sneak peek of products, ideas, collections... what's coming :)
Do you have a word of the year? Or an intention you want to guide you? (my word this year was bold)
